And so it happened to me last week with poppies. Virtually anywhere in the world was wonderful food bloggers suddenly delicious pastries with poppy ( here and here and here and here for example). And so it was clear that I, too, are now entering the track and a poppy seed cake must IMMEDIATELY. I decided then to me the recipe of Elisabeth , since I found the combination of lemon and poppy classic and brilliant find and the recipe was offered the opportunity to inaugurate finally my box shape: o) The cake is totally fast and easy made, was with us just quickly stirred together for coffee after lunch and there was freshly baked, still warm cake ... So it really should always be:)
The cake has a very delicate poppy taste, the lemon taste it in my opinion (except in the cast) is not very low, but does provide that the cake is nice and juicy. Even after three days (have squashed yes, yes, a sponge cake or two people that lasts which) he was not a bit dry. When I cast me out of laziness, unfortunately, not kept to the recipe from Elizabeth, but just quickly stirred together a cast of powdered sugar and lemon juice. recipe
for a loaf pan (30 cm length)
dough
4 eggs
250g sugar
200g butter, melted,
200 ml buttermilk
300g flour (405er)
1 packet baking powder
grated rind of one organic lemon
3 tablespoons lemon juice
2 heaping tablespoons vanilla sugar
4 tablespoons of ground poppy seeds
1 pinch salt
glaze and decoration
150g icing sugar
3 tablespoons lemon juice
rind of lemon
50 ml water
50g sugar
First peel for decoration one organic lemon with a vegetable peeler and the shell pieces (It should not be something in white!) cut into very thin slivers. In a small saucepan, bring the lemon peel, water and 50 g of sugar to a boil and let boil for a few minutes. Then remove from heat and let cool.
Preheat the oven to 190 degrees. Mix flour with baking powder, poppy seeds, vanilla sugar and salt and mix well. Grease the loaf pan and sprinkle with flour or bread crumbs. Eggs and stir sugar with an electric mixer at highest speed for three minutes until fluffy. Buttermilk and melted butter, mix, add the lemon zest and lemon juice and fold in the flour mixture gradually. In the preparations in place dish and bake in preheated oven for about 45 minutes baking, make sure to swab sample and if necessary, bake a little longer.
